Netarts Bay Dive
Join us!
…for a dive or two at Netarts Bay on Saturday, August 22. The dive entry and exit require climbing on some rocks, and the channel usually has some current. The area is relatively shallow. Divers should carry a compass and cutting tool. The optimum dive window on 8/22 is from 9AM to 1PM, so we plan to meet around 8AM. If you have an Oregon Shellfish License you can collect some crab.
There is a $10 Tillamook County Parking Fee.

***Netarts Bay is an excellent current-sensitive dive spot on the Oregon coast. Known for high salinity and excellent macro life, the best entry is at the Netarts Boat Ramp. Divers must time their trips precisely to slack high tide to avoid severe currents and ensure clear visibility.***
After Dive!
Our last club dive was at Netarts Bay, by the boat ramp, on August 22nd. Visibility was about 3' on dive #1 and maybe 2' on a second, VERY short dive!
We saw a ton of fun things on dive #1! 55 minutes underwater with many, many big and tiny colorful nudibranchs, a cabezon, a swirling ribbon of nudibranch eggs, a couple of wolf eels and all of the usual PNW common critters!
Dive #2 was a different story….due to a strong current, all 5 of us aborted about 2 minutes after descending. And then we had a challenging surface swim to shore, a rock scramble up, over and down the other side, followed by a scene of looking like a very large and uncoordinated group of salamanders crossing back across the bay in 2-3’ of water to get back safely to our start point! We all agreed that leaving the ocean to do its thing while we got back to land safely, was the correct choice for that day!
Definitely a dive day to remember!
